Steve Svehla of Rough Road Rescue gets five years probation for felony stealing

On Aug. 11, 2017, Steve Svehla of Rough Road Rescue in Perry County Missouri, was jailed and charged with felony animal stealing. The charges stemmed from a drawn out legal battle over a dog Svehla had adopted out from his shelter several years ago. He pled not guilty.

Oct. 2, 2018 Svehla changed his plea to guilty of felony animal stealing. He was sentenced to a suspended imposition of sentence (SIS) and placed on probation for a period of five years under the supervision of the Board of Probation and Parole.

Mack is found but not home yet

Continued from “Mack’s a runner“. In the previous installment of Mack’s story, he’d escaped his owners, rewards had been offered and raised, and Rough Road Rescue had gotten involved in the search. I previously posted a screenshot of a Facebook post made by Steve Svehla himself, Christmas Eve, pleading for the public’s help to bring Mack home. And I quote,

The inevitable adoption of Mack

Not long after Jamie’s trip to Rough Road Rescue she returned with her family pets to see how Mack would react to them, and they to him. Everything went well. Lots of butt sniffing, a couple of snips from the foo-foo dog, and everybody was happy. After making a few more trips to the rescue, and spending time with Mack, Jamie decided Mack would make a wonderful addition to her family.
