After almost two years of waiting, multiple court orders, and the rescue’s refusal to comply with any of them, Mack is finally home!
Just after 12:30 p.m. today, Steve Svehla and a rescue volunteer delivered Mack to the Perry County Sheriff’s Department where he was united with his family at long last.
“He came right in the house, joined in with the kids, and was very excited to be back,” said Jamie Patterson, Mack’s owner. “He’s very happy to be home.”
Patterson said Mack looks good aside from being a little overweight. That might be expected of a dog that has been kenneled for a long period of time with little exercise. But it’s for sure Mack will be back in shape in no time at all with a houseful of children doting on him and Jamie, an avid jogger, ready to resume her daily jogs with Mack.
No word yet on what made Svehla decide to turn the dog over today. Last week he attempted to deceive the family into thinking Mack was dead by delivering a box of cremated remains to them after being ordered by the Missouri Court of Appeals to return Mack to Patterson immediately.
Patterson filed a report with police but isn’t sure what will come of it. Right now, she says she just happy to have Mack back in the family. “We’ve all missed him so much.”
Many thanks to all those who had a part in making this happen.
Further details will be published as they become available.
Welcome home Mack!
