Deer Creek Doggie Day Camp opened its doors on Nov. 27, 2015.

The new canine day camp is located at 2039 Cape Lacroix Rd. in Cape Girardeau, Mo. and offers a structured, homelike atmosphere with moderate populations and a spacious 3200 square foot off-leash play yard for your canine companion.

Deer Creek strives to provide a structured yet enjoyable experience for all of their campers. Organized activities and play time is scheduled daily. Play groups are kept small in size, usually six to seven dogs per counselor. Each camper gets the right balance of structured activities, off-leash play, and resting periods to send each dog home happy and tired.

All staff and counselors at Deer Creek Doggie Day Camp have received instruction from a professional trainer on canine body language and handling. Training is ongoing for all Deer Creek staff.

Counselors and other staff really get to know the dogs that come to the camp. “The Deer Creek team really does feel like every single dog that comes into “Camp” is a new member of the family. Every single dog gets treated like we would [treat them] if we were adopting them into our houses. We take the time to get to know each dog’s individual quirks, faults, and strengths. Each one of our campers becomes a little piece of our hearts,” said Randi Spiker, manager for Deer Creek Doggie Day Camp.

Owner Stacy Busch and the staff at Deer Creek feel “There’s more to doggie daycare than just warehousing dogs. We knew there was a better way. We wanted to incorporate structured socialization and play into each day here at the Camp,” according to their website.

Deer Creek Doggie Day Camp is open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mon. through Fri. and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sat. Rates are $15.00 per half day and $25.00 for a full day of Doggie Day Camp. Reduced rates are offered for multiple dogs as well as discounts for weekly, monthly, or yearly packages.
